Istituto Comprensivo TE2 Savini San Giuseppe S. Giorgio

The "Savini-San Giuseppe-San Giorgio" Comprehensive Institute is one of the three institutes of the city of Teramo. It was moved to an area close to the city centre, because of the seismic events.

Teramo is a small provincial town full of architectural beauties and landscapes, where it is possible to find many cultural initiatives. The city counts a population of about 55,000, has a homogeneous social fabric with a growing percentage of diversified cultures. Due to the general economic crisis, the phenomenon of unemployment has increased bringing with it difficulties for the weaker families and the population growth slowdown.Recent seismic events have pushed several families to move to the coast, causing a depopulation of the city.

Because of its geographical position, Teramo is close to a possible flow of population directed towards other destinations, so the goal of our school is to make our students discover the possibilities of the territory and to breathe the potential openness to international realities.

For some years our Institute has shown an increase in the number of students enrolled in the three school orders: nursery school 234, primary school 762 and secondary school of first grade 511 in which 190 teachers work.

The definition of our curricula starts from the eight key European competences and aims at the harmonious development of each student’s personality and his active, aware and responsible participation. For several years our school has been committed to the enhancement of cultural heritage, artistic landscape as a common good and potential for democratic development.
